Speaks to reporters last week, CEO Osamu Suzuki Suzuki tried to dismiss fears that the company will reportedly be one of Volkswagen's business. He said he would reject any approach which aims to have a large stake in Suzuki.

This statement came after the two companies announced that Volkswagen has bought shares of Japanese automakers that for 19.9% a month ago.

"When Suzulki become larger companies and successful, Volkswagen may be interested in buying more of our shares," said Suzuki told reporters.

"If that happens, maybe Suzuki will respond by saying, 'Let us continue as such'," he stated.

Suzuki added that he did not want to see a company founded by his grandfather into the 12 brand owned by VW.

Volkswagen Chairman Ferdinand Piech once commented that he could see the portfolio enables companies to grow into 12 brands).

Although not yet indicated any plans, industry observers expect the German giant will eventually try to increase its stake in Suzuki. This is part of the strategy and ambition to become number one car manufacturer in the world at the upcoming 2018.
